6th Annual Lecture of Jam’iyyat Fadlil Qur’an of Nigeria (JAFAQ)
The 6th Annual Lecture of Jam’iyyat Fadlil Qur’an of Nigeria (JAFAQ) at Shomolu was held on Sunday, 26th June, 2011 under the Chairmanship of Alhaji Babatunde Ayinla and the topic “Islamic view on prolonged stay in power” was delivered by his eminence, the erudite Islamic lecturer Sheik (Dr.) Alhaji Muhydeen Ajani Bello. The lecture also discussed the impact of global forces on future political Islam.
The program which was well attended and broadcasted on local television stations attracted a lot of Muslims from far and near, especially those from Shomolu, Agbede-Ikorodu, Mowe, Fadeyi, and Ibafo communities. There were also guests from London, USA and prominent Islamic organisations including NASFAT, TMC, NADWAT, FOMWAN, ISBULLAH, QUREEB and ISMUF.
The lecture which centred on political greed was well enunciated by the lecturer drawing inferences to situations in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Syria and Nigeria. The lecturer dwelled on the Quranic verses that challenged the practices of these stay-tight leaders. The lecturer expressed the need for leaders to consider the welfare of the people they govern and to also allow changes that will bring new ideas and development within the society. He stressed the need to use the Qur’an as a guide for whoever ventures to be an office holder. The highlight of the program was special Duai for the Nation for God’s guidance for our leaders to be liberal and shelve their greed.
JAFAQ has succeeded in using the platform of the annual lecture to bring harmony and enlightenment to the Muslims all over the world and also strengthen the bond of oneness and brotherhood.
